The Seahawks have announced the release of three players from the team: Jamal Adams, Quandre Diggs, and Will Dissly.
The Seattle Seahawks have entered a new era by releasing Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs. This move will save the team a total of $27.5 million in cap space. Along with Adams and Diggs, tight end Will Dissly has also been released, which will free up approximately $7.0 million. All three players are considered cap casualties.
Will Dissly showed some promising moments during his time playing for the Seahawks. However, he unfortunately sustained significant injuries that prevented him from securing a starting role as a tight end. Consequently, he was relegated to a rotational player for the rest of his tenure with the team.
The Seattle Seahawks acquired defensive back Jamal Adams from the New York Jets. In exchange, the Jets received safety Bradley McDougald, a first-round pick, a third-round pick in 2021, and a 2022 first-round pick. Adams played well in Seattle, recording 9.5 sacks in 2020 and earning three consecutive Pro Bowl selections with the team as well.
Much like Will Dissly, Jamal Adams battled injuries only playing 10 games the past two seasons with the team.
Quandre Diggs was also acquired in a trade from the Lions back in 2019. He quickly won over the hearts of the fans with his impressive defensive skills. During his time with the team, he made a total of 18 interceptions and was consecutively selected for three Pro Bowls from 2020 to 2022.
The message is clear, this Seattle Seahawk team will be completely different in 2024 with Mike Macdonald in the driver’s seat.
