Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest and had the bullet exit through his back without hitting any vital organs.
Pearsall was in San Francisco for a signing event when a 17-year old attempted to rob Pearsall for his Rolex. Pearsall defended himself and there was a struggle for the firearm, resulting in both Pearsall and the suspect getting shot. The suspect was arrested and both were taken to the hospital. Pearsall was released a day later after being labeled in “stable but serious” condition shortly after the shooting.
Being the victim to a gunshot wound means Pearsall will need multiple weeks to recover before stepping onto a football field. Pearsall was placed on the NFI list to start the year and will miss at least the first 4 weeks of the season recovering. Fantasy Managers should adjust their plans and avoid Pearsall in redraft formats.

The San Francisco 49ers 1st round pick Ricky Pearsall is returning to practice after suffering a shoulder injury.
San Francisco 49ers’ 1st round pick wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is returning to practice for the San Francisco 49ers just in time to get ready for the season opener. This coaching staff is not keen on playing a player if they do not have a good grasp of the play book, making Pearsall behind on the reps needed to have immediate playing time. However, the Brandon Aiyuk situation is still unresolved, which gives Pearsall a chance to make an impact sooner than later. In order to do so, Pearsall needs to show that this lingering shoulder injury isn’t going to limit him going forward.
Pearsall has a chance to play immediately if Brandon Aiyuk continues to hold out, or if he gets traded heading into the season opener, a Monday night game against the Jets. Pearsall has a crazy athletic profile with 4.41 forty yard dash to go with a 98th percentile burst score. Pearsall is going as WR70 in adp, and could be an absolute steal in the last couple rounds of fantasy drafts.
The 49ers rookie wide receiver has his work cut out for him in a hyper-competitive offense.
Adam Schefter reports that 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been activated off of the non-football injury list. The first round pick will have plenty to catch up to while onboarding against stiff competition for targets from Brock Purdy.
Currently, the 49ers are in an imbroglio with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and All-Pro tackle Trent Williams, both of whom want brand new deals. Ricky Pearsall is a rare contingent play at the wide receiver position who would vault up draft boards in the event Brandon Aiyuk gets traded.
Ricky Pearsall is being drafted in the 13th round on UnderDog. The value to be mined for 49ers pass catchers is none other than George Kittle who is going in round 6 on UnderDog. Since 2018, Kittle has 6 consecutive fantasy points per game finishes in the top-6 or higher. Drafters should be increasing their exposure to George Kittle at ADP knowing he would have a much more impactful ADP spike than Ricky Pearsall in the event Brandon Aiyuk is traded away.
Ricky Pearsall has been one of the top risers in PlayerProfiler’s Dynasty Deluxe lifetime value rating for the month of July.
Pearsall entered this summer as a projected 2nd round pick and saw his dynasty value skyrocket after being selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the 49er’s. His value continues to increase with the news that star receiver Brandon Aiyuk has officially requested a trade. If the 49er’s decide to move on from Aiyuk, the door will be wide open for Pearsall to establish himself as a primary target for Brock Purdy long-term.
Pearsall was recently placed on the NFI list which adds uncertainty about how much we’ll see him during training camp. While this negatively impacts his short-term outlook, his long-term outlook is looking more favorable than ever, as it’s becoming more evident that the 49er’s will present an opportunity for a new receiver to step up as a primary weapon sooner than later. Dynasty Managers should see Pearsall’s addition to the NFI list as an opportunity to acquire him at a discount from owners looking to win now.
Brandon Aiyuk is taking negotiations public via TikTok with Aiyuk telling former teammate Jayden Daniels that the 49ers do not want him back with them.
Brandon Aiyuk has made it publicly known that he either wants to get paid by the San Francisco 49ers or get traded to a team where he can get compensated to his liking. This is a topic that has moved to the front burner throughout the offseason only to be shelved and placed on the back burner as far as immediate attention.
In a video of a facetime call with former college teammate Jayden Daniels, Aiyuk can be seen telling Daniels that the 49ers do not want him back. While the 49ers have listened to offers for both Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, the team has not gotten offers to their liking.
With a potential logjam for team building presenting itself, the 49ers created contingent value drafting Florida Gators wide receiver Ricky Pearsall in the first round. While Aiyuk’s number one priority is getting paid, the 49ers urgent priority may not involve succumbing to Aiyuk’s demands.
Brandon Aiyuk currently goes in the early 2nd round on UnderDog and is our 16th ranked wide receiver in our Dynasty rankings. In 2023, Aiyuk was number 2 in yards per target (12.8) and yards per reception (17.9) and has had back-to-back 1,000 yard receiving seasons. Ricky Pearsall is going in round 12 on UnderDog and chances are that savvy Dynasty managers will raise the price on Ricky Pearsall. Ricky Pearsall is a hold in Dynasty and worth realizing his contingent value before you decide to cash out.
Purdy and Pearsall are already working out together, building their chemistry.
Brock Purdy spoke at a charity event last night and confirmed that he’s already been working out with first-round draft pick Ricky Pearsall.
Purdy and Pearsall have been on a football field together before, during high school. In one game, Purdy’s team scored 70 points, but despite the score, Pearsall set a state record by gaining 250-300 receiving yards by himself. Purdy acknowledged Pearsall’s talent by saying, “So, he’s a baller.”
After discussing the game, Purdy made sure to mention that he is developing a rapport with Pearsall through throwing drills stating “Pearsall has the tools to be a good player” While Pearsall might have been the 2nd to last pick in the first round and the 6th wide receiver drafted in this year’s class, developing a good on-field connection with Purdy is a step in the right direction.
Pearsall’s value in the dynasty league is based on nothing but pure potential. Landing in a great situation, it will be difficult for Pearsall to produce a real fantasy impact in his rookie season with Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and pass-catching back Christian McCaffrey on the field. It will either take an off-season trade from Aiyuk or Deebo, or perhaps an injury to one of the two studs in front of Pearsall to give the rookie a chance at true volume. Either way, Pearsall is on the rise and dynasty managers should have faith in the process.
