The Green Bay Packers are expected to have Romeo Doubs back from a one game suspension stemming from an internal issue, reportedly due to frustration of playing time/scheme.
Veteran wide receiver Romeo Doubs was suspended for week five by the Green Bay Packers. This was due to off the field internal issues. The Packers expect Doubs to return for their week six matchup.
The most bizarre thing about the situation is that from the outside there wasn’t a noticeable or discernible drop in opportunity or playing time for the veteran Packers wide receiver. Christian Watson was already nursing an ankle injury.
Despite missing Week 5’s contest, Doubs still ranks second in receptions on the Packers wide receiver corps on the season. Doubs projects as a weekly WR4/5 moving forward.

After missing the first three weeks of the 2023 season with a hamstring injury, 2022 Rookie Phenom, wide receiver Christian Watson will return to the field on Thursday Night Football as the Green Bay Packers face the Detroit Lions in a division matchup. Barring any setbacks, Watson will help provide quarterback Jordan Love with his full compliment of offensive weapons, if Aaron Jones can also return after injury.
Watson broke out in 2022 and shared the rookie wide receiver touchdown lead of 7 with Jahan Dotson. He added 2 rushing touchdowns, as well. Watson hopes to return to productivity and told reporters he had “planned to play.” The news was broken by Jordan Schultz via Twitter.
While Watson’s return could signify an increase in performance from Love and the offense as a whole, it may lead to decreased roles for wideouts Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Luke Musgrave, all of whom expanded their roles in his absence. Rookie wideouts Reed and Wicks appear to be the two that will be the most affected by Watson’s target share.
The Green Bay Packers may face the Chicago Bears on Sunday without Christian Watson.
The Green Bay Packers will have to face the Chicago Bears on Sunday without one of their top wide receivers, Christian Watson, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.
The Packers will also have to monitor the status of another receiver, Romeo Doubs, who is also dealing with a hamstring injury.
