Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio mentioned the team would re-sign veteran receiver Stefon Diggs for the 2025 season if given the option.
Stefon Diggs, who is rehabbing from an ACL tear and will turn 32 by the end of this upcoming season, seems like the forgotten man by now. He had a productive 47 catches for 496 yards and 3 TD’s in just 8 games on a new team last year. In that time he managed to relegate C.J. Stroud’s self-proclaimed favorite, Tank Dell, to 3rd in the pecking order for targets, all while still passing the eye test. Bringing Diggs back next year makes a lot of sense, as the Texans will most likely be missing Lil’ Tank for the entire season.
We should look for GM Nick Caserio to keep building talent around their franchise QB. The team has several holes to fill on Draft Night and not a ton of cap space (8th least in NFL) to pursue younger receivers like Tee Higgins off the open market. As it stands, aside from Nico Collins, both the WR and the TE room are a hodgepodge of could-be dart throws. Re-signing Diggs and hitting on a draft pick or two would go a long way in offensive continuity — for example in Theo Gremminger’s latest mock draft, the Texans pick WR Elic Ayomanor in the first round. I personally think they can wait until round 3 and select (steal of the draft) Jaylin Noel, who has a similar build, shiftiness, and downfield prowess to Diggs and could apprentice to the all-pro veteran to potentially replace him down the line.

Stefon Diggs 2025 NFL landing spots for maximal fantasy impact.
When the Houston Texans traded for the former All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs, they restructured his contract to allow him to become a free agent this off-season. We will discuss 3 ideal spots for Diggs to remain fantasy relevant coming off of his season ending ACL tear in 2024.
Houston Texans- The Texans are already familiar with Diggs and he was voted a captain for the team during his brief tenure. Diggs was the 2nd leading receiver before his season-ending injury. Tank Dell is expected to miss all of 2025 after a gruesome injury. The problem is that the Texans project to be over the 2025 cap number, but only by approximately 100k dollars.
Green Bay Packers- The Packers workhorse and gem of their 2024 free agency class running back Josh Jacobs said they need a “proven” number 1 wideout. Diggs could provide that for them if given a clean bill of health. Christian Watson was supposed to be that, but it never materialized. The Packers are projected to have 42 million in cap space.
Washington Commanders- The Commanders could provide Diggs with an opportunity to secure a payday and return home, as Diggs played in high school at Good Counsel High School, and then collegiately at Maryland. Diggs and longtime Commander Terry Mclaurin could provide a lethal 1-2 punch. The Commanders have 75 million in projected cap space for 2025 and will be in the market to upgrade their wr2 position in free agency or the draft.
These 3 landing spots could allow Stefon Diggs to return to fantasy relevance. For now, the future for the former fantasy WR1 remains murky due to the uncertainty surrounding his future with both his health and employment.

Diggs will miss the rest of the season as the Houston Texans lose another top receiver.
After a few days of uncertainty, the worst has been confirmed Tuesday morning. Stefon Diggs was diagnosed with a torn ACL as his season, and possibly his stint with the Houston Texans, comes to an end. Diggs has been playing lights out on a 1 year deal with Houston, ranking 7th in the NFL in catches and top 24 in yards and touchdowns.
Houston is already on the ropes with their top wideout Nico Collins on IR. Collins is recovering from a hamstring injury and won’t be available until at least their Week 10 matchup against the Detroit Lions. Meanwhile C.J. Stroud, while still producing like a borderline QB1, hasn’t quite lived up to his pre-season hype.
Stroud will be begging the coaches to put Tank Dell in a bubble. Dell recently laid a goose egg with 0 receptions and 4 targets on a 92% route rate facing off against Green Bay’s Jaire Alexander. This Thursday doesn’t get easier with a potential matchup with Sauce Gardner and the Jets, however down the line the schedule softens up with the Lions, Cowboys, Titans and Jaguars, oh my.
Savvy fantasy managers should be grabbing one of Dalton Schultz or John Metchie, who both saw increased usage and lead the team in catches after Diggs’ injury. Xavier Hutchinson is the deeper league play. A 2nd year day 3 pick, Hutchinson showed out enough for the Texans to let Noah Brown walk. We know C.J. Stroud can elevate players around him, Brown logged 3 WR1 weeks on injury relief last year
