Impressive combine for Arizona TE
Meet a hidden gem for your fantasy football team: a former basketball player turned tight end with impressive athleticism. He’s not just a catch machine, but also boasts the fourth-highest vertical jump, fourth-fastest 40-yard dash time, and eighth-farthest broad jump.
Plus, he broke Rob Gronkowski’s school record at Arizona for career catches by a tight end. Keep an eye on this late-round pick with plenty of potential to make waves in your fantasy lineup.
Tanner McLachlan had himself a very nice Combine performance.
Former University of Arizona tight end Tanner McLachlan’s name has not been on a lot of lips this prospecting season. That may change fairly quickly. For owners looking for a rookie-draft sleeper, McLachlan showed at the NFL Scouting Combine that he could be that guy.
McLachlan was measured at 6′ 5″ and carries 244 pounds on that big frame. At that size, he clocked the 4th fastest 40-yard dash time in the class. The TE 40 time is the stickiest metric for predicting NFL performance, and 4th isn’t a terrible place to be. McLachlan added a 5th best 10-yard split, and a 4th best vertical jump of 35 inches, showing some explosiveness. The only drill in which he came up short was in the broad jump where he ranked 9th with a jump of 9′ 9″.
McLachlan should be drafted in the middle rounds of the NFL Draft and be competitive in the NFL in the right situation. He’ll be a nice later-round sleeper in Dynasty drafts throughout the off-season.
