The New York Jets will be signing running back Tarik Cohen to a one-year deal.
Tarik Cohen will be attempting a comeback with the Jets this season. Cohen tore his ACL, and MCL while also fracturing his leg in Week 3 of the 2020 season. This caused him to miss the rest of that season and the entire 2021 campaign, During a workout in 2022, Cohen suffered a torn Achilles tendon that further delayed his return.
Last Fall, the veteran running back signed onto the Panthers’ practice squad and was recently released. Before the injuries, Cohen compiled 1,101 rushing yards on 264 attempts with five touchdowns. Where Cohen did his damage was in the receiving game. In those three seasons, he corraled 209 receptions for 1,575 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also an excellent return specialist with 126 returns for 1,613 yards.
The running back depth chart is already loaded with Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, and Israel Abanikanda in town. Head coach Robert Saleh has already stated that he intends to use Cohen as a returner to capitalize on the new return rules. Unless you are in a return yardage league, I would just monitor Cohen’s progress throughout camp to see how his comeback progresses and to see if he makes the final roster.
