Trey Palmer was a five-star recruit that initially joined LSU as a member of their 2019 recruiting class. Playing behind the likes of Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Terrace Marshall in 2019 and 2020, Palmer was limited to 11 receptions for 114 yards in 12 combined games in his first two seasons.
In 2021, Palmer played more but his 344 receiving yards was only good for sixth among LSU receivers. With one last season of eligibility and LSU moving on from the coaching staff that had recruited him, Palmer transferred to Nebraska to play his final season in 2022. He dominated the receiving production, finishing with 71 receptions for 1043 yards and 9 touchdowns. His strong season resulted in him being named to the 2022 Second-team All-Big Ten.
