Dolphins Tua Tagovailoa going to IR, will miss at least 4 games.
The dolphins franchise QB Tua Tagovailoa has been placed on injured reserve after his latest concussion. Tua has had a history of concussions, with the latest coming against Green Bay in 2022 ending his campaign. He suffered one of the more disturbing visible brain injuries of recent memory on national TV against the Bengals on Thursday night football earlier in the 2022 season. Hopefully this time away from football allows him to heal and make the best decision for his longevity as a human being.
Tua was not known for his mobility, but was injured on a scramble up the middle. Prior to the injury, Tua had thrown 3 interceptions, including one pick six. It remains unclear what the timetable is for his return, but from a fantasy perspective we are forced to downgrade all pass catchers. The only player that may remain unaffected is Devon Achane. In Tua’s absence, Skylar Thompson is expected to start for the Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa have agreed to a four-year $212.4 million contract extension with $165 million guaranteed.
After months of posturing, the Dolphins have finally secured their foreseeable future by agreeing to terms with Tua Tagovailoa on a lucrative contract extension. Throughout the offseason, there have been plenty of rumors that both sides have been negotiating on a deal, but now we can finally say Tagovailoa has been shown the money. This deal slides Tagolvailoa into the third spot as one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL with $53.1 million per season.
Tagovailoa has fought through adversity since coming into the NFL. From suffering a career-threatening hip injury in his final season at Alabama to the numerous concussions he had in his first couple of seasons in the league that almost caused him to retire. Through hard work and determination, Tagovailoa had a career year in 2023, tossing for 4,624 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He proved he could stay healthy and played all 17 games for the first time.
With Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, De’Von Achane, Raheem Mostert, Jaylen Wright, and Jonnu Smith on offense, how could you not love and want Tagovailoa as your quarterback in not only dynasty leagues but in redraft as well? He’s accurate and should be ready for another fine season with head coach Mike McDaniel calling plays. Tagovailoa’s only flaw is that he is not a running quarterback but in my opinion, it’s a blessing in disguise since it prevents him from getting extra hits. In dynasty leagues, Tagovailoa should produce mid-QB1 numbers with all that talent on offense. Just pray for his health and enjoy the ride.
Miami’s third-year head coach noted that Tagovailoa has been driving the ball with more force.
One of the recurring themes coming out of Miami during the Dolphins’ organized team activities this spring is that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has made a concerted effort to put more velocity on his throws, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. McDaniel added that Tagovailoa has been “driving the ball with more force” and “looks more effortless now” when making these kinds of throws in tight windows.
While Tagovailoa projects as more of a mid-level QB2 in fantasy football, his marked improvement during OTAs only figures to boost his stock ahead of the 2024 season, especially because his arm strength has been viewed by many as his fatal flaw in Miami’s shortcomings in recent years. Combine that with an excellent stable of weapons that could be the most explosive in the league (Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, De’Von Achane, and now Odell Beckham, Jr.), and it’s now-or-never for the former fifth overall pick out of Alabama.
The NFL will not take any action against Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, for an off-field incident at a Florida marina.
After the NFL reviewed Tyreek Hill’s off-field incident, the league has come to the conclusion that there is no need to discipline the talented wide receiver. Over the Summer, Hill was involved in an altercation at a marina in Miami. The altercation was with a charter company employee. Hill settled with the individual in July, and there were no charges filed after the Miami Police Department concluded their investigation.
Now that Hill has been cleared, fantasy managers can exhale with a sigh of relief that they will have their first-round pick all season long. Although the NFL was investigating Hill’s incident, the veteran’s ADP has been pretty steady in the first round, as the third wide receiver off the board. For the season look for Hill, to continue being one of the main pieces of the Dolphins’ high-octane offense. In Hill’s first season with the Dolphins last year, he lit up the NFL to the tune of 119 receptions for 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns. That production should continue this season, and if you have the opportunity of stacking Hill with Tua Tagovailoa on your fantasy teams, get ready to feel double the pleasure and double the fun.
